ABSTRACT

The process of detecting exposure to risk when handling patients in operating rooms stems from the same rationale underlying the definition of specific risk exposure levels in patient wards (MAPO: movimentazione e assistenza pazienti ospedalizzatimovement and assistance for hospitalized patients); risk exposure levels will largely depend on the types and numbers of procedures that require patient handling. In contrast with the situation in wards, where it is possible to calculate a specific risk index based on an aggregate evaluation of all the risk factors analyzed, in operating rooms the analysis and description of risk factors can only estimate risk exposure levels.
