ABSTRACT

Antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antiepileptic drugs, and cardiac drugs such as ACE inhibitors, calcium channel-blockers, and amiodarone are commonly implicated. In patients taking multiple drugs it may be difficult to pinpoint the culprit and withdrawal of the most likely agent is usually necessary. The diagnosis may be confirmed by rechallenge, but the risks of this must be carefully considered and often outweigh the benefits. Patch testing may occasionally be diagnostic in eczematous and exanthematic eruptions.
