ABSTRACT
Definition/Overview Fasciola hepatica is the most common liver fluke, with worldwide distribution. It is of economic importance in sheep and cattle, but horses are infrequently infected. Prenatal infections are reported in foals. Chronic fascioliasis is the most common form of the infection in sheep, cattle, and other animals (including man) (Soulsby 1968, Owen 1977).
