ABSTRACT

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is not a disease per se but a medical condition that develops as an adaptive response to increased resistance of downstream blood flow. It is defined as a mean pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP) of 25 mm Hg or higher at rest, as assessed by right-heart catheterization. 1 If uncontrolled, PH is a life-threatening condition with a poor prognosis related to secondary right ventricular failure.
