The research log thus serves as a ‘beacon of light’ when you become ‘lost’ in the research process and are unsure of the way forward. At such times, you should refer to your research log to enable you to answer questions such as ‘Is solving the current problem crucial to the successful outcome of the project?’, ‘What have I tried doing so far that is not working?’, ‘What else have I not tried?’ or ‘Is there an alternative method?’
