ABSTRACT
Figures are common in technical writing. The purpose of gures is to communicate information to the reader which writing alone cannot achieve. Figures are thus an extension of the text. However, they should be understood on their own without extensive explanation in the text. This chapter presents an introduction to the various types of gures, a guide on how to create them and tips on producing effective gures.
