ABSTRACT
Introduction An artificial reef is a structure placed in the sea, either to protect or enhance the existing habitat or to create a new type of habitat for marine animals and plants. This may lead to the enhancement of local fisheries. The reef design, material used, and the site chosen are all influenced by the required function of the reef.
