ABSTRACT
DEFINITION, ETIOLOGY, AND EPIDEMIOLOGY Labial adhesion or fusion is a benign gynecologic disorder in the pediatric prepubertal female population and is defined as partial or complete adherence of the labia minora or majora. Labial fusion is frequent, and its prevalence is under evaluated. It affects girls, usually from 3 months of age onward, with a peak between 2 and 4 years old. Labial adhesion requires a thin, nonestrogenized vulvar mucosa.
