Two-dimensional shallow water flow in channels with horizontal beds In this chapter, the discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method is applied to simulate the two-dimensional shallow water flows in channels with horizontal beds. The two-dimensional shallow water flow equations are introduced. Different treatments of numerical flux terms are discussed. The slope limiter presented by Lai and Khan (2012), as discussed in the previous chapter, is used for the numerical scheme. The numerical scheme is applied to a variety of test problems, and the numerical solutions are compared with the analytical solutions, laboratory measurements, and field data.
