ABSTRACT
Cardiac problems are among the most common causes of acute admission to hospital. They also form a large part of a general practitioner’s workload. Patients are generally knowledgeable about the symptoms of heart disease, so it is frequently a cause for anxiety. It is essential that all medical practitioners are aware of the patterns of presentation of heart disease, and take the patient’s symptoms seriously.
