Obesity has become a global epidemic, aficting hundreds of millions worldwide.1 Additionally, associated comorbidities, including type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease, inict considerable morbidity and mortality.2 Although bariatric surgery is effective, novel pharmacologic and endoscopic technologies have the potential to treat obesity in patients unwilling to undergo surgery, patients with a BMI too low to qualify for bariatric surgery, patients who need optimization for bariatric surgery, and patients with metabolic disease.
