ABSTRACT

Flow behavior plays an important role for combustion engineers and scientists. To analyse flow behavior, it is important to formulate the governing equations generated by conservation of different flow properties. Chapter 5 begins with the Reynolds transport theorem, which deals with the transport of a generic property. The mass conservation or continuity equation is discussed next. Combustion deals with different species with different property values, so understanding the species transport is necessary. The next topic of discussion is species conservation, followed by momentum conservation and energy conservation. As entropy is a conserved property, the entropy balance equation for multi-species system has been derived as the last topic of discussion in Chapter 5.
