Definition and epidemiology A disorder of any or all of the peripheral nerves, with pathology occurring at the level of the nerve cell bodies, the axons, or the myelin sheaths.
Anatomy A peripheral nerve consists of a cell body and about six fascicles, each of which contains many myelinated and unmyelinated axons. Each fascicle has small nutrient blood vessels which are integral to its function (725).
