ABSTRACT

MANAGEMENT OF MANDIBULAR FRACTURES The most common configuration of mandibular fractures comprises an avulsion of the incisors and part of the rostral mandible, often occurring in young animals becoming snagged on objects such as wire fencing.5 Other common fracture locations are in the interdental space (bars of the mouth) and in the horizontal ramus. Fractures of the caudal horizontal and vertical rami are less common, due to the extensive protection afforded these areas by the large masseter muscles.
