ABSTRACT

Endodontics is the branch of dentistry that addresses the diseases and conditions of the dental pulp. Endodontic treatment of diseased pulp is a standard treatment in man and small animals. Conventional endodontic treatment is performed via access from the exposed crown. Surgical endodontics is performed via bone flap and access to the tooth root. In equine dentistry, only the incisors and canines are routinely amenable to conventional therapy, while premolar and molar pulp disease is treated by surgical access.
