ABSTRACT

BrainBrowser* is a lightweight, open-source, high-performance JavaScript visualization library built to facilitate visualization of the large, distributed data sets that have become common in neuroimaging research. BrainBrowser leverages WebGL, Web Workers, and other HTML5 technologies to allow visualization with any modern web browser. While BrainBrowser consists of two visualization tools, the Surface Viewer and the Volume Viewer, this chapter focuses on the WebGL-based Surface Viewer, which is used to visualize 3D surface (Figure 21.1) or tractography (Figure 21.2) geometry extracted from volumetric neuroimaging data.
