ABSTRACT

Polyamines have proved to be essential to carry out morphogenetic as well as differentiation processes. To understand the mechanisms by means of which polyamines regulate morphogenesis and differentiation, it is essential the use of simple models such as fungi. Furthermore, molecular genetic techniques such as microarrays are valuable tools in uncovering the mechanisms through which polyamines

fulll their many physiological actions (see Chapter 6). The present chapter will describe the existent knowledge regarding the role of polyamines as modulators of morphogenetic and differentiation processes, with emphasis on fungal systems.
