Global Warming, Sea Level Rise, and Suitable Nesting and Foraging Habitat
The Earth’s climate has been fluctuating wildly over the nearly 4 billion years since the first “life” appeared. Time and again, species have escaped or adapted to these changes or faced extinction. Massive extinctions of most life on Earth have occurred in the past and could occur in the future-perhaps the near future (Kolbert 2014). Great gaps in the fossil record provide evidence of five great extinctions over a billion-year period. Elizabeth Kolbert (2014) suggests that The Sixth Extinction, because of climate change and mankind’s global mismanagement, is imminent.
