ABSTRACT

The butyl rubber isobutylene-isoprene rubber (IIR) plays an important role in the building products. Particular suitability of the butyl compounds in the building industry is a result of good resistance to action of ozone, low gas migration rate, good electric insulating properties, and vibration damping. For sealing products, the suitability of the butyl compounds is based on their adhesive properties. In this chapter a relation between the adhesive properties of the butyl rubber compounds and amount of the applied paraffinic oil and alkylphelolic resin has been described.
