ABSTRACT

As a result of recent food crises and outbreaks (dioxins, bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), Escherichia coli O157:H7, etc.), several countries have developed and implemented legal requirements on traceability, and defi ned methods and control authorities to monitor foodstuffs that have to be swiftly removed from the market by recall procedures (Dabbenea et al., 2014).
