ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT The chapter begins with the basic principles of orthotropic floor system and continues to discuss the main advantages of this system, particularly in respect of modern steel bridges. Structural behavior and methods of analysis are deliberated, followed by typical details of the different constituent elements in the system with supporting figures. The problem of distortion often faced during fabrication and the remedial measures to avoid this problem have been discussed. The chapter ends with a brief note on corrosion protection of the system.
