ABSTRACT
The normal graticule for cyl indrical projections has the simplest f o r m : meridians are
represented by equally spaced straight parallel lines, and parallels by straight paral-
lel lines or thogonal to meridians. These projections can be conformal, equal area, or
arbi t rary ( in part icular cases they can be equidistant along meridians or arbi t rary
w i t h a given d is t r ibu t ion of distort ion).
