ABSTRACT

Spectrochemical Methods are a group of analytical methods based on the interaction between light and matter. Light is an electromagnetic radiation with two components, electrical and magnetic. Electromagnetic radiation spectrum ranges from the high-energy γ-rays through the visible light (colored radiations) to the radio waves of the low energy. The energy of the radiation increases as the wavelength decreases. The main characteristics of waves are the wavelength, frequency and amplitude as can be seen in Fig. 2.1.
