ABSTRACT

Before ergonomic hazards can be identified in the workplace, it is necessary to know the charac teristics of workers. Anthropometries and biomechanics are two Ergonomics disciplines that exam ine the physiological capabilities and limitations of workers. These two disciplines can be consid ered the workplace application of human physiological measurement. In Chapter 2, the physiological foundations of Ergonomics were presented. This chapter will review the next step. Fundamental concepts associated with anthropometries and biomechanics will be presented. In addition, basic concepts of descriptive statistics and their application to these two areas will be explained. This chapter will then focus on the gathering and application of anthropometries and biomechanics data for the elimination of ergonomic hazards.
