ABSTRACT

The rapid development of nonlinear transmission lines (NLTLs) since the printing of the second edition has motivated our broadening the Ultrawideband (UWB) Systems chapter (Chapter 6) into this chapter to enlarge the scope of technology that is covered. “Beamless” seems an appropriate category to cover UWB technologies and NLTLs since both technologies use pulsed power to generate high voltages, yet feed directly onto a load to generate RF or RF-like pulses. Neither technology requires an electron beam nor vacuum. We first cover UWB systems as in the second edition, updating the technology. Then, we provide a comprehensive review of NLTLs.
