ABSTRACT
The starting point of the theory of special relativity is the possibility to identify inertial frames of reference (IF), defined as those systems in which Newton’s first law of motion (below) is valid:
(1). A body not subject to a force in an IF is in a state of rest or performs uniform straight line motion.
