ABSTRACT
In the development of products and processes, it is very common for researchers to list a large number of variables to be evaluated. As seen in Chapter 5, the fractional factorial design is an excellent tool for up to eight independent variables. When exceeding this number, the use of the methodology developed in 1946 by Plackett and Burman is very valuable for the initial selection of variables, if properly used.
