The Putative ‘ß4’-Adrenoreceptor and Other Atypical ß-Adrenoreceptors

Reports about the putative ß4AR have been published by the groups of Kaumann (for a review, see Kaumann and Molenaar, 1997) and Galitzky et al. (1997), with contributions by several other laboratories. The properties described by the two main groups do not however define the same ßAR. We will recapitulate here the various observations, and then attempt to draw some tentative conclusions.
