ABSTRACT

Reduced resources of fossil fuel and increased demand, cost, and uncertainty in the steady supply of imported oil have sparked the search for alternative electric power generation systems. Additionally, there is an increased global concern for the higher greenhouse gas emission and its effect on global warming and the environment. A fuel cell power generation system is an attractive alternative to conventional power generation systems such as steam-turbine thermal power plant and internal combustion engine because of its higher efficiency, improved fuel economy, reduced dependence on conventional fuel, and lower emission of environmentally unsafe pollutants.
