ABSTRACT
In this chapter, vibration sensors and actuators that have been used in the past in active noise and vibration control systems are discussed. Semi-active dampers, which are of major importance in vehicle suspension design, are strictly neither sensors nor actuators. As they are discussed in detail in Section 12.3, they will not be discussed further here. This discussion begins with a description of vibration sensors, followed by a description of various vibration actuators.
