7.1 BACKGROUND
Carbon dioxide is actively being stored at depth in a sandstone saline reservoir as part of the In Salah Gas Project in Krechba, Algeria [1]. It is one of few commercial scale CO2 storage projects and serves as an important platform to study the scientific and technical issues for safe and effective long-term CO2 storage in deep saline reservoirs [2-11].
