ABSTRACT

Children suffer from six to eight viral upper respiratory infections a year. Of these, approximately 5 to13%will transform intoabacterial sinus infection, with amajorityof thesebacterial superinfections responding toappropriate antibiotic treatment while others progress and have potentially devastating outcomes. Recognizing the clinical signs and symptoms that are associated with the complication of pediatric sinusitis is of the utmost importance since the key to treating them involves prompt medical and occasionally surgical management.
