ABSTRACT

Vaginal agenesis is a feature of many of the disorders of sex development (DSD). The commonest conditions in which vaginal agenesis occurs are Rokitansky syndrome and androgen insensitivity syndrome. In both conditions there is a blind ending vagina of variable length and an absent uterus. At present there are no treatments to allow menstruation or to enable the woman to carry a pregnancy. Current treatments focus on psychologic support and creation of a vagina to allow penetrative sexual intercourse.
