ABSTRACT

The mumps virus, like the measles virus, is also a member of the paramyxovirus family. The mumps virus contains a hemagglutinin neuraminidase glycoprotein or viral (V) antigen associated with the envelope, a hemolysis cell fusion (F) glycoprotein antigen also associated with the envelope, and a soluble (S) antigen associated with the ribonucleoprotein core.
