ABSTRACT
Appendicitis is the most common cause of an acute abdomen pain in women. Its incidence in women of childbearing age is not altered by pregnancy. The disease appears to be more common in the first two trimesters than in the third. The clinical manifestations of acute appendicitis in pregnancy are more protean owing to the change in both the position and the axis of the appendix during gestation (Fig. 1).
