ABSTRACT

Stereotactic radiosurgery is an appropriate treatment technique for selected patients with arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). Thousands of patients worldwide have been treated with stereotactic radiosurgery for intracranial AVMs (1). Radiosurgery may be performed either alone or in combination with AVM resection or embolization (2). In this chapter, we review the basic principles of radiosurgery as they apply to the management of patients with AVMs.
