When did modeling human performance begin? To provide a specifi c answer would beg the question, What is meant by modeling? Modeling, in general, means to represent objects or events with words, symbols, images, song, dance, or other means of expression. From that perspective, people have been modeling human performance since the dawn of human intelligence. Almost all such representations that we humans make are qualitative, taking the form of conjectures, theories, descriptions, or stories. Mostly these are expressed in words-terms of law, politics, morality, religion, physics, art, or just ordinary idiom.
