ABSTRACT

Human modeling and simulation has attracted increasing attention from academia and industries in recent years. Various digital human models can be brought into the digital environment at the early design stage to check human factors issues, reducing the number of design iterations and saving money and time, while improving quality and safety. In this chapter we describe the diff erent aspects of modeling human kinematics, summarize model-based and data-driven approaches, and review methods for workspace evaluation. We present a methodology for workspace zone diff erentiation for the solid zone or a surface in the 3D space. Finally, we provide a quick overview of the predictive dynamics such as motion prediction, walking, and running.
