ABSTRACT
Screening recommendations for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) testing and cervical disease are also outlined. Although the gynecological infections covered in the chapter can be managed by a general primary care provider, there are specific complications that should prompt a referral to a gynecologist. These include pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) requiring hospitalization, severe genital warts, and HPV cervical disease meeting criteria for colposcopy.
