ABSTRACT

Based on data from the Bureau of Census, postmenopausal women will comprise 33% of the population in the year 2050 compared with 23% in 1995. Since incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse (POP) predominantly affect perimenopausal and postmenopausal women, the numbers of women affected with these conditions, as well as the demand for evaluation and treatment, is projected to steadily increase.
