ABSTRACT
I. INTRODUCTION The process of generation of mature and functional blood cells from common primitive and quiescent cells is a formidable task. Not only do trillions of cells need to be produced every day to replace the consumed ones, but also rapid changes in the rate of production have to be made constantly in adjustment to a variety of continously arising needs.
