ABSTRACT

Cosmetic and reconstructive correction of auricular deformities and construction of the auricular framework are among the most challenging procedures for the plastic surgeon. The task begins with a thorough knowledge of the intricate embryology and anatomy of this complex structure. The proportional, positional, and angular relationship of the ear to adjacent structures must also be respected. Sound surgical technique is required as the surgeon seeks to create a natural and aesthetically appealing replica of this complex form.
