ABSTRACT

Surgical expertise and technologic advancement have established nephron-sparing surgery as a safe and effective surgical procedure. Nephron-sparing surgery aims at complete cancer eradication while preserving as much normal renal parenchyma as possible. Various clinical, pathologic, and operative factors are recognized to affect the outcome of nephron-sparing procedures. Table 12.1 illustrates the important factors influencing the outcome of nephron-sparing surgery.
