ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on standard synthetic methods for different nanoparticles. Nanoparticles are selected based on their wider application potential and routine use in various scientific disciplines. Synthetic methods are selected that are simple, reliable and most frequently used and have good reproducibility. Nanoparticles include two types of plasmonic materials of different sizes (Au and Ag), one magnetic material with different sizes (iron oxide), one QD material with different emission colors (ZnS-capped CdSe), fluorescent carbon nanoparticles, two doped semiconductor nanoparticles (Mn-doped ZnS and N, F-codoped TiO2), two oxide nanoparticles (ZnO, TiO2), hydroxyapatite nanorods, graphene oxide/chemically reduced graphene oxide, liposome, albumin nanoparticles and two polymer nanoparticles. The described synthetic methods can assist graduate students and researchers in selecting the best synthetic methods from the vast body of literature. This chapter also offers them general guidelines and the confidence to prepare other new nanoparticles of similar types following the appropriate literature.
