Urinary incontinence is a deceptively simple term as it is generally understood: the inappropriate passage of urine from the bladder through the urethra. ‘Inappropriate’ is the key word; of course, urine must be passed from the bladder through the urethra at regular intervals, which constitutes normal voiding. Incontinence, then, is defined by urine passage (often called leakage) apart from normal voiding. It is simple, yes?
