ABSTRACT
The school as location for health promotion prompts a number of questions. Why the school? What is health promotion? What do we mean by health? In England, the policy context for child health in the school years and in the school environment has become the focus of significant attention during the 21st century. This is echoed in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Furthermore, cross-government departmental and joint ministerial approaches have become a prominent feature of upstream thinking.
