ABSTRACT

Some interviews may have a separate portfolio station, where questions, as the title of the station suggests, will be orientated around the candidate’s portfolio. The objective of questioning here is to ensure that a candidate’s portfolio is able to provide the supporting evidence to corroborate what the trainee has said in answer to a question. This evidence may be the interviewee’s electronic logbook demonstrating the procedures performed or be in the form of recorded DOPs (directly observed procedures), mini-CEX (mini-clinical evaluation exercises), CBDs (case-based discussions) and PBAs (procedure-based assessments) which may be used to illustrate, for instance, commitment to the speciality.
