ABSTRACT
Cholesteatoma is a three dimensional locally destructive epidermal structure found within the middle ear. It is an uncommon condition with an incidence of approximately 10 per 100,000 per year.1 Although the commonest presenting complaint is
that of chronic foul smelling aural discharge and hearing loss, symptoms of vertigo or disequilibrium are estimated to be present in five per cent of patients at diagnosis.2
