ABSTRACT

This chapter considers bullous and vesicular skin disorders with the exception of epidermolysis bullosa, which is the subject of a separate entry.

Pemphigus and pemphigoid These rare autoimmune conditions are characterized by a bullous eruption of the skin and mucous membranes. There are several variants of each disease. In pemphigus, blisters form intradermally; in pemphigoid, lesions occur at the dermal-epidermal junction.
