ABSTRACT
The ear, for hearing and balance, comprises the auricle (pinna), external acoustic meatus (1), tympanic membrane (2), middle ear and inner ear. Much of the ear is housed within the temporal bone and is closely related to the sigmoid venous sinus, middle cranial fossa and internal carotid artery.
